Carol Naranjo, M.D.,F.A.C.S.
Carol
Naranjo was born in Cambridge, but spent her early years growing up in
Springfield, MA. Her family moved back to Natick where she graduated
from high school. She returned to western MA for her undergraduate
studies at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, receiving her BS
in Zoology in 1982. With an initial desire to pursue a Ph.D. in science
she spent several years doing academic research at Harvard and Dana
Farber before joining Genzyme Corporation, at that time a fledgling
biotech company. While Dr. Naranjo was involved in the early phases of
research on the product now known as “Ceredase”, she decided to pursue a
medical career.
Dr. Naranjo
received her medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia in
Richmond and graduated in 1992. She was a member of the Alpha Omega
Alpha national medical honor society and received a certificate of
excellence from the American Medical Women’s Association. She happily
returned home to friends and family for her surgical residency at New
England Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Naranjo was thrilled to fulfill a
long-held dream of practicing and living on the North Shore when she
joined her colleagues at Beverly Surgical Associates in July of 1997.
Her main surgical interests include laparoscopic gastrointestinal
surgery, laparoscopic hernia repair, colorectal surgery, and breast
surgery.
