Mayo Johnson, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Born in
Massachusetts in 1932, Dr. Johnson was educated at Dartmouth
College and the College of Physicians and
Surgeons, Columbia University, receiving his degree in 1957. He trained at Peter Bent Brigham and
Dartmouth Affiliated hospitals, was associate surgeon at the Grenfell
Mission in St. Anthony, Newfoundland, in 1960, and a captain in the U.S.
Army Medical Corps, serving in Thailand in 1964. Since 1966 he has been
on the staff of Beverly
Hospital, serving terms as chief of surgery, president of the medical staff, and
trustee of the hospital.
He
is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, and a member of Alpha
Omega Alpha, the American College of Surgeons, the Massachusetts Medical
Society and the American Medical Association. His special interests in
surgery include diseases of the breast, hernia repair, and cancer, all
sites.
